The number of members paying to use Match Group's dating services increased by 31% to 5.5 million, an all-time high for Match Group, driven by the company's Tinder unit.
"We are ahead of schedule and in very good shape to at least double Tinder's paid-member count this year," Gary Swidler, Match Group's chief financial officer, said in an interview.
"Payment and renewal rates (for Tinder) came in solidly against expectations," said Greg Blatt, the chairman of IAC's Match group, which includes websites such as and Our and also the Princeton Review.
"We think (Tinder) has reached unmatched global scale in terms of its user base," Barclays analyst Chris Merwin said, roughly estimating potential quarterly revenue of million to million from the app.
